Last weekend, I attended MCAD’s Mentor Mix and Match event. I meet with some interesting people, including Harry Hauck, Namdev Hardisty, Lacey Criswell, Kerri Jamison, Travis Anderson, and Matthew Wash.
Before the event, I was given 2 slips of paper, one where each mentor was asked to give one line of advice to current students, and one was a list of “conversation starters” for students that were nervous about talking with strangers. Such information exists best when shared:
There was also a slip of paper with this URL listed on it, the information is a bit heavy and disorganized however: http://www.patrickredmonddesign.com/faqs/mentorresources.html
The best piece of advice I was given was from Kerri, who said “You don’t have to let everyone know that you’ve worked retail.”
